How Does it Work?

On the first Tuesday of the month on an every other Month Basis, Laundry Love Milwaukie provides laundry services at :

Courtney Plaza Laundromat in Oak Grove, Milwaukie from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
(13745 SE McLoughlin Blvd. Milwaukie, OR 97222)

An opportunity to help people who are struggling financially in the Milwaukie area, by assisting them with doing their laundry and providing quarters, detergent and softeners.
Where relationships are built, to become a community that Loves people like Jesus and through this their life is changed forever.

Why Doing Laundry?

For those living below the poverty line, washing clothes presents both a logistical problem and a financial hardship. By assisting in washing clothes, we can help relieve one fiscal weight for those who struggle daily to make ends meet, thus allowing our guests to redirect their finances to food, medical care, school supplies, etc.

Providing the means to clean clothes is merely one thing we can do to help those living in poverty in our community. It is a way to get to know those in our community who live in oppressive poverty face to face, offering our ears to listen and our hands to serve. It is a way to remain connected to human beings in our community who are so often overlooked. It is one way we can offer tangible and transformative relief.

How to Fund Laundry Love Milwaukie

• Give a one time or ongoing financial gift to Laundry Love Milwaukie
• Host a candy machine in your local business
• Buy some candy at a Laundry Love Milwaukie machine in your community
• Have your family commit to save quarters for Laundry Love Milwaukie
• Host a “Quarter Drive” by selling goods/services by raising awareness in the community, the possibilities are endless.
• Donate Soap, Softeners, Laundry Baskets

Volunteer

Volunteers are needed on a consistent basis to staff events, fundraise and perform many other specialized tasks.

• Families or groups to provide and serve dinner, snacks, or coffee at an Laundry Love Milwaukie event.
• Individual or group volunteers to assist in checking people in, loading quarters and distributing detergent at an Laundry Love Milwaukie event.
• Individual or group volunteers to hang Laundry Love Milwaukie flyers the week prior to an event.
• Individual or group volunteers to host art space for children wanting to color and draw.

Laundry Love Milwaukie is an open-source cooperative created by JustOne. As such, Laundry Love Milwaukie is a part of a larger network of individuals, businesses, community groups, and faith communities who are dedicated to washing and drying clothes for people all around the US. There are now over 50 Laundry Loves around the US. The idea was developed after a conversation with a homeless friend who conveyed the basic need for clean laundry.
